John Igo Branch Library

John Igo Branch Library

City of San Antonio

Nunnelly was selected as the best value general contractor to build the new John Igo Branch Library. The structure included a suspended slab with a pre-engineered metal building. The building incorporated several green building concepts and also included a custom large steel windmill art piece built by local artist James Hetherington. The custom art contained a large turbine and used wind to produce electricity for the library’s consumption. In addition to the library space, admin /offices, meeting spaces, conference rooms, and a water feature through century oaks located behind the library. When the project initially bid to the market it came in significantly over the projected budget. Nunnelly’s preconstruction team provided a list of cost saving ideas which were accepted by the owner bringing the project within the original budget.
